This is an old photo, but I just now downloaded it.  It sums up DS nicely I think.

Now, my ongoing obsession with getting DS' room organized has finally resulted in a room that both DS and I like, without spending any more money on furniture. Well, I did spend $12.99 on closet organizers, but I'm not counting that as furniture.

We started by flipping the ladder of his loft bed to the opposite side, and moved the bookcase to the opposite wall, where it is serves as a very tall nightstand.  It is flanked by the dresser I moved out of the closet, which is now the games storage.  Then we moved all his hockey related posters to that wall.

By moving the bookcase, we opened up space at the end of the loft bed for storing the bike, lego and displaying DS' growing collection of knight costumery (is that a word?).

Further down that wall is a small desk that used to be under the loft bed, with lots of storage on and around it for all of DS' small knick-knacks, art supplies and shoes.  I really don't like that desk, but its all about repurposing what we have right now.  The chair is an extra from our dining room set.

We moved the row of hooks to the opposite wall, creating a catch-all space for DS' jackets and school paraphenalia right at the entrance to his room.

DS' favourite part of the room is the reading nook we created under his loftbed, using some curtains that used to hang in the living room and a few safety pins.  I moved the Trofast storage unit that we had in the room to one end of the nook, and stacked a bunch of extra pillows and blankets at the other end.  DS actually sleeps in there just about every other night.  Every kid needs a nook, and his is just right.

Those curtains are rarely tucked back, but I thought you might like to see what it looks like inside.

DS is also very fond of the Lego display he created on his desk.
